White on White: You can’t go wrong with an all white space. To prevent it from feeling like a hospital room, introduce different textures. A crocheted throw, a rough hewn linen sofa, and a nubby rug all add depth to a monochromatic look. Reading Nook: Carve out a quiet moment in your living room to entice a little reading time. Drag a cozy chair over to a window or next to a bookshelf and be sure to provide ample light for late night page turning. Updated Prep: Give tradition a twist and try a living room filled with old standby silhouettes a Chesterfield sofa, bamboo side chairs in super saturated colors (ocean blue and lime green). Game Changing: An extra large coffee table with a feminine shape is the modern take on the traditional game table. Invite friends over for game night; the edge on the table will keep board pieces (and drinks) from sliding onto the floor. Touch of Trend: Update your living room as you would your wardrobe with a few new accessories each season. This neutral room is an easy canvas for a few pops of color and pattern an aubergine throw, a zebra pillow, and a metallic side table.
Formal Arrangement: Designed for entertaining and little tete a tetes, this formal living room’s oval furniture arrangement keeps the focus inwards. Plus Size Arranging: An extra large sofa can mean plenty of room to stretch out, but it can also engulf a room. The trick is to anchor an oversized piece of furniture against a wall and use other voluminous accessories (a jumbo print or a king sized ottoman) for balance. Cabin Chic: A rustic retreat gets a pop with slipper chairs covered in a tribal ikat. It gives the outdoorsy cabin a feminine spin. Playing Together: Spike the interest level in a neutral room with a few splatters of pattern. The bold designs on these throw pillows might be overwhelming in a larger scale, but in a petite form they add a casual chic vibe. Eclectic Appeal: Two Moroccan poufs set on the floor give a wanderlust feel to this traditional living room and provide extra casual seating for guests. Accent Wall: Swathe one wall in a cheery wallpaper to warm your space. Choose a print that picks up other colors in the room. Office Space: Create a petite home office in your living room that’s big on style: Instead of a traditional desk chair (that would look out of place) appoint a living room chair that looks good facing the desk or the rest of the space.
The dining room is the place where most of the family gather together, most of the time, while enjoying meals and conversation. Therefore, dining room should be comfortable, and you must not neglect or ignore this part of the home. Of course, the most important in the dining room are comfortable chairs and appropriate dining table. The chairs should be comfortable, if possible waterproof, and from material resistant to stains. The modern dining rooms should be usually in bright colors or monochromatic, which means that one color runs in the entire arrangement. The chairs are with simple lines, plastic or of leather. The dining table can be in many shapes and colors. The work table is mandatory piece of every home, no matter if it is in the office, in the bedroom, or in the child’s room. An ideal place for a work table is by the window, where there is a lot of light.
The end of the hot and sunny days of summer is getting near but that is not a reason not to make the best of what’s left. There are numerous ways you can enjoy the summer and some of those include going on a vacation to a place that has a sea or if you prefer a mountain resort. But you can’t always be somewhere, so you should make sure that you can enjoy the beautiful weather even when you are at home. Do you feel your backyard lacks attitude and style? When was the last time you enjoyed spending some relaxing time out there? Summer is just around the corner and whether you have a big or small family, this is the ideal season to spend time having fun outside. Outdoor activities don’t have to be far from home when you have an inviting area designated for it.
In many homes the desk is mandatory piece of furniture. Whether it comes to children’s desk or a desk with a computer that is used by the whole family, the time spenden on this table is not negligible. Therefore, we should pay attention to choosing the appropriate table, depending on the type of work and the age of the person that will use it. The table should have above or below, shelves or drawers to store all needed stuff. This will enable greater visibility and more free surface to work. When it comes to teen’s room, table should be set that way, to allow full concentration of the child, such as, for example, in the corner of the room. An ideal place for a desk is by the window, to have natural light for succesfull work. If the table is not set by the window, the lack of daylight should be upgraded with table lamp, which is mandatory piece in every work space. Do you have a garden or terrace? Ah you are so lucky! Just look at our examples and your outdoor room might look like this, with a little imagination. Can you imagine that you are resting on one of these seductive beds with champagne in hand.
Bring On The Butterflies. If you are a less active person, you may see yourself drinking a refreshing beverage in the morning while you watch the butterflies dance around your garden. The best thing you can do to attract these beauties of nature is to plant flowers that are rich in nectar. You will then have double effectiveness, the soothing view of your gorgeous flower garden, and the ubiquitous presence of these curious little butterflies flying around your yard. Dress Your Deck. If you have a deck in your backyard, you have the advantage of various floor levels; this means you can easily design different zones for each of your favourite activities. For example, a dining area can be created with pergolas and vines to render a more secluded and private place for you and your guests to have a meal or share some drinks in. By making every space have its own function, you can enjoy the practicality of an organized backyard getaway.
The hot and sunny days of this summer are not going to stick around for much longer but you still have time to make the best out of them. And what better way is there to enjoy the beautiful weather other than doing it in your own backyard with your friends and family while enjoying the comfort of your home. This is where the contemporary patio design comes in. If your home is designed in the contemporary design style, then there is no other choice for the patio other than the contemporary design. It it will serve for decoration only, so you will have a lot of plants and flowers, or you want to spend time in it and will set up a gazebo, barbecue, swings, maybe a small pool. When you define your needs then just go to devise and deploy the space where you will set that. If you opt for making enjoyable outdoor room, you need to find some good ideas that will serve you as an inspiration.
Get some quality beds and furniture It may be tempting to pick up a few pieces of disposable furniture to tide you over the moving period but it’s much better to get quality furniture that will last. A good bed will help you rest better during the hectic moving period and it will serve you well long after you have settled in. The same applies to the rest of your living spaces; good quality kitchen furniture and items such as couches and sofas can be bought either new or second hand and, with a little care and attention, they will last for years. Proper Curtains and Blinds. This is another area where it is tempting to get temporary replacements until you are settled. The reality is that you’ll need high quality and long lasting blinds or curtains at some point in the future, so just like furniture, it will not hurt to invest in the right curtains or blinds at the beginning. Carpets and Rugs. Carpets and rugs are the essentials that will help you maintain your new apartment and keep it in its best shape to preserve its value. In addition, carpets, tiles, and area rugs help to define and protect different areas while adding color and texture.
Sea of Space: Make your living room a welcome respite for a gang of friends with ample seating and a circular coffee table that’s easy to navigate. Easy Elegance: Keep a formal living room from getting too fussy by mixing dramatic accents like these floor to ceiling drapes with everyday classics, like a pair of neutral slipper chairs. Ladylike Charm: Soft, muted colors and sinuous curtains infuse a living room with a little feminine grace. Extended Seating: The right furniture layout, with a quirky accessory added here and there, can broaden a living room to accommodate large groups and big parties. Mix It Up: Throw caution to the wind and mix in a bunch of different patterns for a lively look. Pick complimentary colors to guide you when shopping.
Silver Accents: Cool metal touches give this room a sophisticated air. The scrolling mirror, the legs of the coffee table, even the fireplace andirons are all glossed in chic silver. Writing on the Wall: For truly unique (and sometimes quirky) decor. You can search by theme, type, even lyrics to your favorite Men Without Hats song. Does your living room work double duty as a front entry? Keep the two separated and well defined by lining one wall with a welcoming wallpaper, and keeping the living room furniture appropriated to an area rug. Flower Power: Here’s a bloomin’ brilliant idea: Keep oversized patterns in check by limiting them to well defined spaces (here a bouquet of blue flowers covers an occasional seat and an oversized roman shade). It will keep the powerful pattern from taking over the room. Back to Back: Create a dynamic seating arrangement by placing a set of sofas in the center of the room and with their backs to each other. It’s a bold move that creates two conversation corners.
Viewing Area: The eternal question: What to do with the TV? If space allows, try placing your television in a corner so the flow of the room is uninterrupted (but where you can still enjoy Downton Abbey comfortably from the sofa). Bursts of Cheer: Maxi floral prints and super-sized stripes are whimsical touches that give this living room an affable appearance. Warm and Inviting: Nothing says, “curl up and stay awhile” like an extra-deep, sink into me sofa and a plush ottoman to rest your feet. Load on Layers: Stimulate the senses with plenty of textures, including a scratchy jute rug underfoot, a tweedy wallpaper, and a luxurious cashmere throw on the sofa. Polished Pairs: Ah, the power of two: A pair of identical console tables flank the fireplace and two different, but similarly colored, sofas face each other for a pulled together look. Natural Elements: A mix of polished and unfinished wood pieces, and a neutral shade on the wall, can make a room feel chic and not campy. Feeling the Blues: A palette of navy blues makes this room feel instantly inviting and cozy. It’s a durable color for big pieces of furniture, like this plush sectional, since it masks everyday dirt. Small-Space Solution: The trick to turning a small-space into an elegant living area is to use appropriately sized furniture. A sectional sofa might seem too big for a petite area but in fact it’s the perfect size and helps define the space. (Using small furniture in a tight space only exacerbates a compact feeling.)

In most people’s vocabularies‚ design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains and the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. by Steve Jobs
