Load on Layers: Stimulate the senses with plenty of textures, including a scratchy jute rug underfoot, a tweedy wallpaper, and a luxurious cashmere throw on the sofa. Polished Pairs: Ah, the power of two: A pair of identical console tables flank the fireplace and two different, but similarly colored, sofas face each other for a pulled together look. Natural Elements: A mix of polished and unfinished wood pieces, and a neutral shade on the wall, can make a room feel chic and not campy. Feeling the Blues: A palette of navy blues makes this room feel instantly inviting and cozy. It’s a durable color for big pieces of furniture, like this plush sectional, since it masks everyday dirt. Small-Space Solution: The trick to turning a small-space into an elegant living area is to use appropriately sized furniture. A sectional sofa might seem too big for a petite area but in fact it’s the perfect size and helps define the space. (Using small furniture in a tight space only exacerbates a compact feeling.)

Lighting: Because most of your day’s (and night’s) preparation takes place in the bathroom, it is perhaps most essential that you light this space in your house right. Too much, too little, or otherwise improper lighting around the vanity could result in garish grooming, so you don’t want to skimp on your lighting budget. While it may be wise to install dimmable recessed lighting around the rest of the room, such lights are dangerous around the vanity, where they can cast deceiving shadows on the face. Instead, vertical fixtures or sconces mounted on either side of the mirror will provide even light. These task lights should total 150 watts, providing sufficient brightness that won’t wash out the face’s features.

The living room is a place where you receive guests, spend the most time with family and have a relaxing afternoon after a long hard working day. Formal Arrangement: Designed for entertaining and little tete a tetes, this formal living room’s oval furniture arrangement keeps the focus inwards. Plus Size Arranging: An extra large sofa can mean plenty of room to stretch out, but it can also engulf a room. The trick is to anchor an oversized piece of furniture against a wall and use other voluminous accessories (a jumbo print or a king sized ottoman) for balance. Cabin Chic: A rustic retreat gets a pop with slipper chairs covered in a tribal ikat. It gives the outdoorsy cabin a feminine spin. Playing Together: Spike the interest level in a neutral room with a few splatters of pattern. The bold designs on these throw pillows might be overwhelming in a larger scale, but in a petite form they add a casual chic vibe. Eclectic Appeal: Two Moroccan poufs set on the floor give a wanderlust feel to this traditional living room and provide extra casual seating for guests. Accent Wall: Swathe one wall in a cheery wallpaper to warm your space. Choose a print that picks up other colors in the room. Office Space: Create a petite home office in your living room that’s big on style: Instead of a traditional desk chair (that would look out of place) appoint a living room chair that looks good facing the desk or the rest of the space.
Storage: Unless you opted for a pedestal or wall–mounted sink, you probably have quite a bit of cabinet space below your vanity. Fortunately, you can customize that cabinet space to suit your needs. For example, you can add a pull–out step stool at the base of the cabinets to help little ones learn better hygiene, or you can add pull–out shelving to the sides to keep the cabinet more organized. The dining room is a place in the apartment or house where we spend the time when we have meals. Although this is the room where you usually do not stay long, when arranging it, certainly want to be modern and in line with the kitchen or living room. The inspiration is not necessary to specifically look for, and it is best to paint the walls, floors, furniture and decorative contents to coordinate with the kitchen. It is so important these two rooms to be visually connected. If you want a modern dining room, then the furniture, tables and chairs should be softer. White lacquered color table, beige or gray chairs with metal legs will fit perfectly in every dining room, and besides, minimalist decorating style is currently very popular. To complete the overall impression, above the table, if possible right in the middle, set up a large hanging chandelier and decorate the walls with decorative stickers in different motives or shelves, where you can set up your beloved items.
As you probably know, we have been working on creating a new showcase of the contemporary design style. So far, we can say that we have the interior pretty much covered with just a couple of parts missing which will be created within the next couple of days. If you have missed the recent collections, you should check them out because we have covered designs from the contemporary kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, dining room and kids’ room as well as today’s brand new collections of fresh contemporary home office interior designs. The next part of our showcase of the traditional design style is here and it is bringing you a pretty big collection of traditional home office designs. The reason we went with home offices this time is because it is more than certain that some jobs are going to end up done faster and better if you are working from home. Of course this can’t apply for a lot of job types, but some office jobs can be done from home, and if you have tried it, you’ll know that you are actually more productive that way. The design of the traditional home office is nothing different than all the other traditional interior designs that we have shown to you in our most recent collections featuring the traditional kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room and dining room.
Mirrors: Like buying a rug that is the wrong size for the dining room, an inadequate mirror looks awkward above a vanity. The rules here are strict: The mirror should be exactly as wide as the vanity and hang in the middle of the wall space between the vanity and the ceiling, with about six inches of gap on either side. Of course, the second rule may change if your bathroom ceilings are particularly high; you may want to experiment by cutting facsimiles out of paper and judging the look. The current trend for bathroom mirrors is to surround the glass with a bold wooden frame, as though the mirror were decorative instead of a necessary bathroom feature. The effect does make the room look more polished, but it may be expensive if your mirror is large.
